Why apply for a place with us?

We are able to admit children outside the main admission period if we have available spots. Please get in touch — you are more than welcome to visit us.

We prepare warm meals from scratch three days a week and bake our own bread — “Polarhagen bread.” You do not need to pack lunch for your child.

We involve children in the process so they can develop healthy eating habits from an early age. Parents’ wishes and needs for their child are taken into account.

Adaptation Period (Tilvenning)

The kindergarten, in cooperation with the parents, shall ensure that the child gets a safe and positive start. When the child begins, the staff provides close follow‑up during the first days so the child can feel a sense of belonging, safety, and readiness to play, explore, and learn (Framework Plan 2017).

If possible, we encourage you to visit before the official start date so the child can become familiar with us and the other children. We have very good experiences with this.

You will receive a designated contact person who introduces your child to their new everyday routine and is available to both the child and you as parents. This attachment person will go through how the adaptation period will take place and, together with you, plan a period that suits your child’s needs.

Goal of the Adaptation Period

• To help the child become familiar with the new environment
• To allow the child to form a safe and trusting relationship with their contact person
• To help the child manage in the kindergarten without parents present
• To support the child in engaging in play and exploration

Coordinated Admission

To apply for a kindergarten place with us, your application must first be registered with the municipality. The application deadline for the main admission round is March 1st, but you may apply for a place at any time during the year.

Prices – Sibling Discount

The maximum price for kindergarten placement is set by the Norwegian Parliament.
You pay for 11 months per year, as July is free of charge.

The current price for a full‑time place (100%) from August 2025 is NOK 1200,
plus food costs of NOK 420 per month.

All meals are served in the kindergarten.

Sibling discounts are given in accordance with municipal regulations.
