Focus on Outdoor Life

This year we have chosen to place a stronger emphasis on outdoor education and have entered into a collaboration with Vibeke, who offers a truly unique program for kindergartens. We have chosen to participate two days per week. We are very excited — we have already started now in December, and the agreement will run until summer in the first instance.

About Vibeke

Vibeke Brattli was born and raised in Tromsø and has a strong passion for nature and the changing seasons. Summers are often spent hiking in the mountains, cycling, and sleeping outdoors, while winters are filled with activities such as skiing, snowshoeing, and fatbiking.

Her interest in outdoor life led Vibeke into the teaching profession, where she has been able to combine pedagogy with nature experiences. After 25 years in an outdoor-focused kindergarten, with ambitious trip destinations and a strong emphasis on outdoor activities, she now offers a unique combination of her best experiences to more kindergartens.

Pedagogical Philosophy

Vibeke has found that children who spend full days outdoors:

• Become happy and resilient
• Develop an understanding of natural phenomena
• Gain independence and learn practical skills, such as:
  • Preparing simple meals over a fire
  • Knowing what to pack in their backpack
  • Building stamina during physical activities such as sledding
• Experience play with natural materials that stimulates imagination and presence

To ensure continuity in the outdoor program, Vibeke has her own bus with an approved transportation license for trips to traditional turf huts, lavvos, and mountain hikes.

• Certified annual lifesaving test for water rescue
• Certified Summer Trek Leader through The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT)
